Slacker Yoga (the feeling transcends the form)
Tuesday's 5:30 pm & Thursday's 6:00 pm (Check the NSS Calendar) Pebble Hill Interfaith Church 320 Edison-Furlong Road Doylestown, PA
(by donation)
Slacker Yoga is combination of movement and contemplative tools borrowing from Kashmiri Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Kripalu Yoga, and many somatic therapies that focus on connective tissue and cranial rhythms found throughout the entire body including Craniosacal and Myofascial Release therapies, Trager Work, Zero Balancing, Polarity Therapy, and a lesser known modality referred to as Micro-Movement therapy.
At the root of the practice is one’s attention to sensation and permission to follow the forms and shapes that the body wants to move into including moments of stillness and the natural immersion which occurs when we slow down and feel.
As the practice matures we find ourselves in a meditative flow of sensation, movement, and stillness that nourish us with silence and inner calm.
We work with standing and floor postures that encourage slow stretch, light bouncing and rocking motions to hydrate and release fascia, and repetitive motions for strength and relaxation.
We end the session with a deep relaxation Shavasana, lying on the back.
You may wish to bring a blanket and/or yoga mat to keep you comfortable and stable during the class.
Jean Klein (founder of Kashmiryoga) remarks, “This approach brings about an awakening of all virtual energies and enables them to fully enfold. This work generates a forefeeling of the truth. This path leads us to a meditative attitude. This meditative state, which is not a cerebral function, is a presence without objects, which is thereupon lived while objects are present."
